So the season is coming to the end, and the courses will be closing after Thanksgiving, but that doesn't mean the fun has to stop. Believe it or not, golfing in the winter is possible. A number of places allow winter playing. A few years ago I witnessed at Attitash ski resort, people in skis and snowboards, playing down a closed off trail. Yes, it included a tee box, and a flag in a hole. I know I will be trying it out this winter to keep my swing sharp. I'll see you out there.

Practice Drills Pocket Guide: Proper Golf Grip Basics
This week I wanted to talk about the fundamentals, and the most important one of them all is how to hold a golf club. It's he basis for everything.
For starters, stand up straight nice and tall and bring your hands to your sides in a relaxed position. Next bring your hands out in front of you, put them palm to palm, as if you were about to pray that could hit the ball. This is what your grip is going to be like is this position. Now from here grab the end of the club with your left hand, shown in the upper left picture. Next bring your right hand infront of that one, and wrap it over. When looking at your hand position it should look like the far right picture. The most important part here is you can now start swinging, but you don't want to grip to tight. This of the club as a bird. Hold onto it firm enough so it can't fly away, but not so firm that you'd choke it.

Sagamore Hampton Golf Club is the first public pay to play course in New England. I was fortunate enough to play here this week, and let me tell you the course is absolute beautiful. The front nine was nice and open, and the back nine turn a little more narrow, making accurate shots count. I met the owners and they are wonderful guys. The course has been in the family since it was opened in 1962. Richard still lives in the original farm house that was on the property when his father and grand father purchased the farm land in the 50's.

Wet Fall
It's been so wet these last few weeks that I wanted to remind everyone reading here at Golf New England that last year was much worse. This is the 4th, 5th and 6th holes at Indian Mound Golf Club last year. There was so much flooding after the tropical storm, most of the fairways were under water. There was literally I river running through it. So just be thankful for the little bit of wet we've been getting, and don't forget, to hit'em straight.

The fun power of Reddit. #Rhodes2Hollywood
So it's Monday night and I'm sitting here having fun with thousands of others, making comments on the IMDB website about a movie extra named Alexander Rhodes.
Who is this your wondering, let me fill you in on what's happened in the last 4 days.
"I was a movie extra and posted a link to my IMDB in a comment which got a lot of upvotes. Apparently they rank the cast based on profile traffic. Look at what you guys have done..
and with the help of more people liking this picture, this happened today..

Rain, Rain, and The Ryder Cup
Another wet weekend here in New England, but that didn't dampen my spirits when I went and played at Nippo Lake Saturday. The Victory club from Rochester, NH hosted a charity event there, that was another one for the ages.On the 9th tee-box, everyone was recorded trying to hit over a pond and hit a green 135 yards away. Out of the 120+ people that attempted the shot, only 10 of us made it, and proudly I can say I was one. On Sunday, came a major loss to the American golf enthusiasts with a loss to the Europeans in the Ryder Cup at Medinah, outside Chicago. We have another year before we can take it back in Scotland. Go USA!
